It’s April! Spring is in the air. In Maine the snow is begrudgingly melting. We are beginning to see buds in many areas of the state. Children are or soon will be riding their trikes and bikes. Once the ground dries out, spring clean-up begins. “Play outside” is the words parents will be saying.

It’s Spring and April is the time it starts in Maine. Same is true with outside play and the fresh air, far away from the television, x-box and the computer. So leave technology inside and enjoy the warming days.

Just a few thoughts on play — it is available inside during the cold months but nothing compares to the possibilities of outside play — hikes, bikes swings and jump ropes come to mind. Games like marbles, hopscotch, hide and seek, were standard for times past and just as much fun for the children today. We all enjoy cook-outs and picnics. Say hi to neighbors you haven’t seen much of over the long winter.

“Play is the important work of children and essential to family Life”

“No batteries required, just the energy of family”

Parents help build productive lives for their children.
